Replace Albert Hale

First, I want to thank everyone who contributed to our campaign, volunteers, and supporters. Thank you so much.  We are now on an upward swing and have leveled off after our campaign started off as a roller coaster ride. The months of June and July took us to court where we challenged the incumbent on fraudulent petition signatures that went all the way to the Arizona Supreme Court. Our case was denied; you can click on the Court icon on the left to read more on our case

November is fast approaching; the political leadership of Arizona's District 2 will change significantly.  It is important that the candidates who seek to lead District 2 define their objectives and plan to work hard to achieve these objectives.  As I have indicated, I am running for State Senate in District 2 not to be a professional politician. I intend to serve and work with all of District 2.  I do not have a personal agenda but one that encompasses the issues and needs of District 2. This will be the only agenda.

Thank you for all of your support.  We are running a Clean Elections Campaign and are glad to announce that we attained our goal.  You made it possible to meet our target.  Now what is even more critical is having our volunteers assist in handing out flyers, as well as participating in parades and other events until the Primary Election on September 2nd and the General Election on November 4th. You can check our calendar page on our web site www.roycejenkins.com to see up-coming events and pick an event you might consider being a part of.

We continue to generate supporters and receive endorsements such as from Arizona Senator Jon Kyl while he was in Phoenix and former Colorado Senator Ben Nighthorse Campbell during his visit to the 28th Arizona Indian Town Hall in Cave Creek, and from our friends from the Arizona African American Republican Committee State Chairman Clyde Bowen.  These endorsements are extremely important to our campaign because it shows that change is needed in our district and citizens across the state and country support a candidate with integrity, accountability as well as one who is approachable to his constituents.

I have traveled to Leupp and listened to the issues and concerns of the local Chapter Candidates. It was an honor to participate with the Paralyzed Veterans during their Gourd Dance in Chinle.  I acknowledged their need for veteran outreach counseling and transportation services. In a Candidate Forum for Coconino County Supervisory District 4 the topic of renewable and alternative energy continued to be a key issue not only for county but throughout the state and country. There are many possibilities that could create a positive impact with simple changes that we can all make.

I would like to give my sincere regards to my good friend Preston Korn who was seeking a bid for Congressional District 1 and on his decision to withdraw from the race due to financial resources to be competitive and to effectively communicate to all of the voters in the congressional district.  Knowing Preston this will not be last him seeking public office, thank you Preston!

These past few months I have been busy filling out surveys from many organizations asking for my views on an array of issues that have impacts on our district and state regarding commerce, medical, healthcare, education, transportation, and veteran issues.  Most critical among all the surveys questions is the state of the budget.  As you may have heard, these critical issues alone will impact many programs across the state as some may have to decrease or cut funding all together.  As your full time State Senator I do not believe that increasing taxes should be an option. I plan to work diligently with my peers identifying all possible solutions for a balanced budget.  This will include meeting, listening, and gathering information from constituents across the state.Red Mesa, Arizona

What are the issues affecting District 2?  Let me tell you my friends! District 2 is Rural Arizona. I live in the heart of District 2, and the conditions of our roads are not drivable especially now with the monsoon season.  Winter will soon be here and with rain and snow many school buses will not be able to pick up students. People will not be able to drive to and from their homes as far too many roads are not paved.  This unfortunately impacts services that are dependent and crucial to our community, such as getting to medical appointments, school busses transporting children to and from school, as well as law enforcement and emergency care assistance. Safe and functional roads in our District are a big priority.  District 2 lacks many infrastructure needs.   I came upon a fatal rollover and witnessed many people trying in vain to obtain wireless service to call 911 but there was no service. This caused many that had stopped to help drive miles away to obtain a signal to notify emergency help.  I have experienced power outages lasting several minutes.  These are just a few of the many concerns that have been felt throughout the district. These conditions affect many people in the rural areas on a daily basis.

There are many more issues that I will be addressing in the coming weeks prior to Primary and General election such as education, veteran, and social norms. We are in dire need of support lack funding. Yet this is not an even a complete compilation of what we need to change in our district.

Your next senator cannot just talk about leadership but demonstrate it throughout the district by working diligently and being accountable.  With your vote, I intend to prove myself worthy as your Senator. There are many issues at stake in this election, as well as serious differences between the candidates. As your Senator for District 2 I intend to keep an open door and ear to listen to your needs. I will work with anyone who sincerely wants to make a shift in this district by working for the needs of all those in District 2.

I am counting on your vote to make it possible to be elected in November. I ask that you join the growing list of supporters who feel that change is needed and can be possible with a candidate that has integrity and accountability. We can create a better district 2 by keeping dishonest professional politicians with personal agendas from being elected.
